Mistake #2 – Not closing the deal.

Have you ever considered how much time is wasted going out estimating, only to find you’re not closing the deal and finding out your client has gone ahead with someone else?

When you take into consideration traveling time, preparing quotes, having coffee and getting to know potential clients, together with any admin spend really mounts up.  

Also consider this work is often done in the evening and other anti social time, when you’d rather be at home with the family, then the thousands of 

pounds you’re wasting on potential new business is staggering.

Some people win 50% or more of the jobs they quote for.

Others struggle to win 25% of their quotes.

Let’s revisit our friend Struggling Joe here to find out just how much it is costing him (see table above).

Struggling Joe makes things worse for himself by discountinghis rates in an attempt to win more jobs.

It might not seem like a big deal, but when you multiply the impact of this over a year, it can be a painful and brutal reality check…

Some people waste hundreds of hours each year trying to win jobs.

If you’re discounting, it only makes matters worse.

The table above shows Struggling Joe wastes 300 hours a year quoting for jobs he never wins and earns £200k, where as the LPC member in the example saves 100 hours and earns £500k.

Don’t fall into the same trap as Struggling Joe!!!
